OUR STORY
WE ARE GETTING MARRIED (:
This is the story of two love birds! Sean is originally from Cape Coral, Florida, where he grew up playing football, wrestling, and playing outdoors. Natalie grew up in Vernon Hills, Illinois and spent her elementary and junior high years practicing gymnastics, and became a cheerleader in high school. Sean attended University of Central Florida for a year where he played football. He then transferred to Illinois State University where he became the first member of his family to graduate from college, class of 2016! He majored in History with a criminal justice minor. Natalie attended Illinois State University where she majored in Secondary Education Mathematics with a minor in Spanish, class of 2017.
Natalie and Sean met at Illinois State University in the fall of 2013 in the quad at a “welcome week” event. A group of cheerleaders, Natalie included, spotted Sean and made our friend Christian talk to him and ask if he ever thought of trying cheerleading. It was perfect timing because he had just injured his knee playing football and was contemplating leaving the sport. Christian invited him to quad stunting and when asked who wanted to volunteer to help Sean learn to stunt, Natalie eagerly accepted the challenge. After that, it only took them a few months to become great friends. On March 27th 2014 they officially started dating. They welcomed their dog Brodie into their lives on July 1st 2015. Brodie taught them so much and they fell more in love with him, and each other, every day.
Natalie and Sean were teammates on the ISU cheer team for three years and learned how to balance our romantic relationship with our cheerleading partner/teammate relationship. Natalie and Sean have also been co-workers for a company called Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) for the past three years. Needless to say they really do make a great team, in sport, work, and life.
On April 1st 2017, Natalie was preparing for a surprise birthday party for her dad, while Sean and the rest of Natalie’s family (except her youngest sister Madisyn) were preparing for the proposal. After she walked into the surprise “birthday party” they took a family photo which featured Sean holding a ring in the background, and balloons that said “Marry Me?” He then proceeded to ask Natalie to marry him in front of about 30 of her family members! Talk about pressure! Natalie’s favorite line was “I had a speech planned out and it’s not going very well.” What a genuine wonderful moment!
They are set to be married on July 21st 2018 and have already labeled it the “BEST DAY EVER.” Their wedding will be a party for all complete with yard games, drinking and barbecue! We hope you all will join us for what we know will be one of the best days of our lives!
XOXO
